Dr. Joseph Albano, M.D.

Dr. Albano retired as a Senior Flight Surgeon with over 27 years of military service. He last served in the 466th Fighter Squadron, 419th Fighter Wing, at Hill Air Force Base, where he spent most of his career flying in F-16s, accumulating over 500 hours in this aircraft.  Dr. Joseph Albano is Utah’s premier specialist in Regenerative Medicine.

He also serves as a team physician for US Speed Skating, US Military Endurance Sports, Real Salt Lake, and Westminster College Athletics. Professional and world class athletes are among his clientele.

Dr. George Ballantyne graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Washington and Lee University, where he was voted Academic All-American in football. He received his medical degree and completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. 
Dr. Ballantyne is a member of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, Atlanta Orthopaedic Society, Medical Association of Georgia, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the Southern Orthopaedic Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Crane is board certified in sports medicine and emergency medicine. He teaches regenerative therapeutics and stem cell grafting ​techniques throughout the country and to doctors from all over the world. In 2005, he founded Crane Clinic Sports Medicine, where he began focusing on regenerative therapies in orthopedics.

T hree years later, he opened Bluetail Medical Group, adding ultrasound-guided stem cell grafts to his regenerative treatments.

Dr. Curlee is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship trained in congenital, traumatic, and degenerative spinal disorders. He and his staff provide a multidisciplinary approach to the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of spinal disorders. This includes physical therapy, physiatry, and the most advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive spinal surgery.

Dr. Michael Cushing graduated with a degree in chemistry from Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. While there, he was on the men’s swim team and was named Academic All-Big Ten Scholar Athlete in 1990 and 1991.

He received his medical training from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Atlanta Medical Center (formerly Georgia Baptist Medical Center). His athletic background and interest in anatomy inspired him to choose orthopedics as his specialty.

Dr. Michael Gruber is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also an active member of numerous professional societies, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America, an organization comprised of orthopedic surgeons who have demonstrated advanced skill and interest in arthroscopic techniques.

He serves on the medical staff of Piedmont Newnan Hospital and Piedmont Fayette Hospital and has served as the Chief of Surgery at Newnan Hospital. Dr. Gruber’s professional interests include sports medicine, knee, shoulder, elbow, foot, ankle, and joint replacement surgery using minimal incision techniques.

Dr. Harshfield earned his medical degree and a Master’s degree in physiology and biophysics from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He is currently the chairman of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the International Cellular Medicine Society (ICMS), as well as chairman for their advisory board, and he serves on the board of the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine (AAOM).

David J. Heinsch, M.D., completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. After medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic and the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Heinsch chose to undergo additional training after residency in the form of a foot and ankle surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He specializes in many surgical and nonsurgical treatments of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity, such as Achilles tendon repair, hindfoot and ankle fusions, total ankle replacement, and fracture care.

Dr. Amrish Patel has built his medical practice around helping patients regain normal, healthy physical function. Jack H. Powell III, M.D., received his medical training from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at Emory University in Atlanta. 
Dr. Powell is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and recently was recertified for his 3rd time. He has a special interest in sports medicine, total joint replacement, and osteoporosis prevention.

Trevor W. Turner, M.D., RMSK, FAWM is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician who specializes in minimally invasive image guided orthopedic procedures to place steroids, platelet rich plasma, and stem cell injections into damaged tissue to help patients recover function faster with lower risk.

He has completed advanced certification in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, which is a critical part of his ability to render state of the art therapies on the cutting edge.

Dr. Jayson McMath is a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon who is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He joined Georgia Bone & Joint in 2006 to fulfill the ever-increasing demand for pediatric orthopedic services in the South Atlanta region.

As the only pediatric orthopedist on the south side of Atlanta, Dr. McMath provides a wide range of services, from congenital limb deformities and fracture care, to adolescent sports injuries and scoliosis. Dr. McMath also has extensive training in both general adult orthopedics and accepts patients of all ages and performs knee and hip replacements (including the new anterior hip approach).
